Carova Beach is an unincorporated community in Currituck County in the extreme northeast corner of North Carolina. Located on Currituck Banks, north of Bodie Island it can be accessed only by boat or by four-wheel drive vehicle since there are no paved roads connecting Carova Beach to the neighboring settlements.

The beach derives its name from first syllables of Carolina and Virginia, to represent both regions as it's located just south of the North Carolina-Virginia state line. Banker horses and other wildlife roam freely on the beaches of Carova. Laws ensure that no one gets within 50 feet of the horses on the beach.

With only a volunteer fire department in place, there is no commercialization on this segment of the Outer Banks. As such there are no restaurants, shops, or other attractions that are part of beach communities. But there are many beach homes that can be rented. The beach really offers unmatched experiences.

With few paved roads driving off-road vehicles becomes necessary. Enjoy many miles of accessible beach as you search for a perfect spot on this pristine shoreline enjoying the waves lapping at the tires. Driving off-road vehicles on the beach is adventurous but make note of the rules to be followed.
